This page showcases some of my work made by a process known as “wet cynanotype”. It is made by first applying the cyanotype solution (Potassium ferricyanide plus Ferric ammonium citrate) to the paper but not letting it dry. Then place whatever botanical materials you want to use for the image. Finally, spray with additional solutions. These can include but aren’t limited to a weak solution of bleach, vinegar, ammonia, witch hazel, a sprinkling of salt or sugar. Then wrap the whole with plastic or glass tightly clamped to a backing over the work in progress. Place in bright sunlight for anywhere from 1 to 12 hours. Rinse in plain water and voila! I particularly love the ones where a flower or leaf refuses to leave the paper.
